Something about films that were filmized in Jetrichovice or its surrounding

In leading role: Jetrichovice, Vysoká Lípa, Rynartice, Všemily and surrounding (source: bulletin Ceská silnice)

Saša Rašilov as official Tríška.

At first time local nature played in 1949 in movie of director Josef Mach :"Family sufferings of clerk Tríška". Older generations recall personator of leading role Saša Rašilov and his partners Jarmila Kurandová, Rudolf Hrušinský, Karel Effa, Mrs Kreuzmann and others. The movie was inspired of effort to contribute to a settlement of borderland, that was after displacement of Sudeten Germans here and there almost without people. Maybe it might be appeal to citymen in order that they could help to the countryside. Clerk Tríška is referent of housing office in Prague. He is overwhelmed by neverending administration and by importunate visits of petitioners for flat. His occupation makes him nervous and therefore he decides to go away from Prague to countryside on holydays with his family. After various adventures he decides to stay there with whole family. Some scenes, especially charming nature, are filmized in surrounding of Jetrichovice (experts recognize hillside "By cross" above bathing pool by Chribská Kamenice near Jetrichovice, where the family of Tríška goes down with armoured transporter from hillside or views to Jetrichovice).

Scene from movie Proud princess, in which we can see old king of midnight kingdom (in the middle), on his right hand minister Jakub from land of king Miroslav.

The next movie, in which plays romantic surrounding of Jetrichovice, was "Proud princess" in 1951. Director Borivoj Zeman prepared this film as adaptation of folk tale of Božena Nemcová: "Punished pride". The movie was appreciated in International movie festival in Karlovy Vary with award "the best movie for children" and it is the most visited movie in history of czech film. It filmized by the Czech road, where in fact the last woodcharcoal pile was built. The compars was made of residents. In crowd of clamouring and jolly children was contemporary pensioner from Ceská Kamenice - Mr Bedrich Páša. He recalls how they painted and dressed him and how the atmosphere of filmizing was so exciting. With smiling he tells about projecting of the movie in cinema in Ceská Kamenice. In suspense he look at the screen if he would recognize himself. When he turned up, his mother, who was there with him, screamed: "Look, there is our Béda!"

The first prose of one of the first cottager in Rynartice - director Jirí Hanibal - was novelette "When the wood cries". In 1975 it was published by "Czechoslovak writer". The novelette has this content: "Main character - wood-worker Franta - finds out that the main thing between people always stays mutual understanding and open heart in everyday and exceptional situations too." Author remembers how before writing of this novelette he used to go with Stefan Mochlár through woods in order that he get acquainted with a work of woodcutters and foresters. When he decided in 1983 to filmize on the basis of this novelette the movie "Love with smell of resin" he chose surrounding of Jetrichovice for this movie. He wrote about it: "This landscape is very close to me and I have sensation that I know it very familiary. I am not only one from staff who fell in love with nature around Jetrichovice. Sometimes cameraman Josef Vaniš and costume designer Marta Kaplerová come there. The leading part plays Vlado Müller - father of singer Richard Müller. His partner was Vera Galatíková and Mahulena Bocanová (daughter). Further play many other well-known artists as Petr Kostka, Marek Vašut, Václav Sloup, Ilja Racek, Jan Skopecek, Ladislav Frej, Libuše Geprtová. Apparently in the movie play as compars citizens from Jetrichovice. Whole staff was accomodated in hotel Bellevue. Director of hotel was Mr Nemecek. His wife was small and thick. Sometimes she complained of her weight and Vlado Müller - lover of good wine, food, singing and women - pleased her with his genuine slovak language: "Be happy Mrs Nemecková. Do you know what we say in Slovakia ? Also big butt can hold spell-bound !" It pleased Mr Nemecková so much, that from this time Vlado get bigger portion of meat. It is great harm that this fabulous human so shortly after filmizing closed accounts of his life."

Director Hanibal continues: "The movie "On the run with César" I filmized in accordance with my own scenario 6 years later in 1989. It is about getting familiarized of little boy with young woman - new wife of his father. New relationship between them is hardly influenced by aversion of new fathers wife to boys dog Cesar. I wanted to make free continuation of my early movie "Grandfather, Kylián and me" from 1966, for that I obtained Gold lion in festival in Venice. I have to say that the movie "On the run with César I hold for unsuccesfull". It turned out what means forceful artists personality in the person of Rudolf Deyl jr. in role of grandfather in the movie "Grandfather, Kylián and me". Never mind, in return I made full use of landscape around Jetrichovice. In the movie we can see cottage of Mr Wagner in Rynartice. This movie originated with help of residents from Jetrichovice too and some of them played as compars. The movie takes place in winter. Unfortunately there was no snow that year and therefore we had to go every day to Josefuv Dul in Krkonoše (Giant mountains). From filmizing of both movies in Jetrichovice passed much time but I like to remember it."

Milan Pešek impersonated by Miroslav Machácek.

Why husband of director of hotel Vyhlídka impersonated by Ilja Racek is breaking this door ?

Next movie was detective story "Fatal doubts" from 1978. Content: In the wood near hotel Vyhlidka was found 10years old killed girl. The main suspected of murder is psychicaly unpoised man - Milan Pešek , who is permanently on the run before his excessively careful brother Josef. The brutal homicide is investigated by captain Koloušek. Josef want to help his brother and investigates himself independently on police. He is familliar with Milan and thus he knows very well that he isn´t insane even not dangerous. Who is then murderer ? Thrilling criminal drama was shot in 1978 in accordance with scenario of Miloš Makovec and Pavel Hajný régisseur Ivo Toman. The Main role of psychicaly unpoised man was embodied by Miroslav Machácek, role of captain of police by Josef Vinklár, role of director of hotel Vyhlídka by Slávka Budínová, role of husband of her by Ilja Racek. In the movie one scene repeats (it takes places in curve "By puddle" between Všemily and Jetrichovice) - local huntsman waits for local postwoman, who ride every day around. Once he may give her mushroom but movie makers don´t have any and thus they had to look for them by the local cottagers in neigbourhood and finaly they found the big one - you can see him in movie.

From recital of régisseur Mr Jirí Hanibal (from 1992) (source: bulletin Ceská silnice)

The fact thad I shot two movies in Jetrichovice isn´t self-evidently accident. Since 1963 I have in Rynartice cottage, so I will be nearly the oldest resident. When I look back I wonder how things changed to better in Rynartice, but about that I wouldn´t write about it, so back to filmizing. Knowledge of countryside helps me in my work, but not only countryside even people.

I disbelieve that it was already in 1983, when we arrived to Jetrichovice to filmize movie "Love with smell of resin". I browse inwardly places where we worked: from cottage of Mr Knobloch in Rynartice, over rocky chapel in Všemily to fence above Jetrichovice in that Marek Vašut had to break a wild horse. In those days was plodding warmth. Not only to us even to good-natured horse that they brought "to the floor" instead wild horse. Horse stood in the corner of fence with hung head and he repeled flies. It appeared that the horse has to restrain Vašut instead Vašut the horse. Marek pushed for "resuscitation" of horse, he tuged hold-back, we all around shouted on the horse, but he stayed calm. Finally when we had to give some small hooks under saddle, he started nervously to drag his feet and at last horse crisply stood up on hinder legs. Marek didn´t hold by him and he tumbled to the grass. That was what we needed - shot was saved. It was high time because I was already hopeless. (I have to say that horse survive everything without injury).

By filmizing movie "On the run with Cézar" the situation was just inverse. Representative of main role Matouš Soukenka was a little chicken hearted boy. Thus we had to train him how come out of the horse in order to stop him to be afraid from animals. I would been certain of that we didn´t screw anything up, thus I took hold "double" - excellent childish horseman, who might to show off fall from horse himself. Just morning they brought horse to the meadow in Všemily and we lifted up Matouš on the horse so that he get used to horse. It was Spring and along road grass burst into leaf. Which horse could withstand ? And so all of sudden - Whoops over ditch ! - and Matouš ? Dash to the ground ! Unfortunately camera was off, thus my situation was unmistakable - this filmizing will not be simple !!! We called "double": "Demonstrate at what you are good !". He came up horse proudly. "Do I have to shoot ?" asked me cameraman. "For safety´s sake" noded myself. I was in this moment probably illuminate by Holy Ghost ! The boy rode excellently, he passed from trop into the gallop and in an instant the horse from some wanton pleasure tossed his buttock and "double" - as well as Matouš before - fall to the ground. It was colossal fall and it was clear to me, that for second time we can´t shoot something better than this. I glanced to the cameraman - he smiled contently and he fluttered: "We have it in the case !". He was right.

I confess that I don´t like to filmize with animals. Maybe you already apprehend why not ! Though always some animal break in shot, when I filmize...

RAINER MARIA RILKE IN JETRICHOVICE (source Ceská silnice, author: Karel Stein)

Rainer Maria Rilke.

Native of Prague, poet Rainer Maria Rilke had been living in 1875-1926. He influenced with his formaly perfect and philosphicaly deep lyrics and with his prose german interwar literature. He aloofed himself from public life and for his mission in life he considered poetry. In his poems (published for example in poetic collections Kniha hodiny (Book of hour), Nové básne (New poems), Orfeovy sonety (Orfeus sonets)) he found harmony between art and human being, and he also voiced discomposure of modern man.

Historical viewcards have own individual charm. When we meet with an old viewcard from the place, that we know very well, it can fascinate us. Author of this brief article has set of old viewcards at home, that he inherited from his father. The snaps were taken by rector from Prysk on the beginning of the 20th century. The rector Firtík was not only the first Czech in the village, but he also brought progress - he had the first camera in the village. On one of the viewcards he recorded entry to the rectory in Jetrichovice with kind text. It is description of visit of Prague poet - Rainer Maria Rilke in 1892. After nice days in rocks it started to rain and therefore Rilke decided to spend the day by other way and he visited rectory in Jetrichovice. He tells the story about it: "The rector was younger man with conspicious and friendly face and I surprised him by the work in garden. I was pleased to see him how delicately and with how kind of understanding he cared for his flowers. To very weak flowers he gave stake and exuberant one he moralized with scissors and string. Later he led me to the house. His workroom, bedroom and other rooms attested reasonable wealth and excessive orderliness. Only roaming little canary and cuckoo clock interrupt silent household. When I went through the hall, the door into the kitchen opened and housekeeper - pretty and red-face girl - welcomed me by energic greetings. From the kitchen flowed odour of various meals, that bubbled on cooking range. Idyllic coziness - this is my memory of rectory in Jetrichovice."

In other part of his prose we can read about description of region around Jetrichovice, that impressed him very much: "I would like to associate you my dear reader to the region, where stately rock giants put forth their grey crowns from deep fir-wood and where the meadows besprinkled with flowers spread dreamy around whispering brook. There in valley are situated, crowned by dark woods, lovely Jetrichovice, with their white church and halfwood and halfstone houses. All around thousands of ways lure us to the heart of mysterious wilderness. How often I ascended along the path to the Maria´s rock, to its sheer and tower cone, how often I found myself on the top of Falkenštejn, where we can see rests of chamber, in which cool shadow maybe famous Hynek from Dubá relax after tough fights too. Still today it invites us to carefree repose. Long gorges with cushion of moss and carpets of heather look like violet cushions, the trees create beautiful baldachin and high fans of ferns get aired with blissful agreeable cold. There is strewed too: the wood gives plenty of bilberry and other fruits. Especially when it rains, when we cannot make longer trips, it is agreeable to pick up the small sweet fruits because crowns of well-developed trees shape waterimpermeable roof, under its vault it is possible many hours give time to this activity."

Rich english ship-owner, member of conservative party, former minister of british government, might mediate negotiations between Sudeten Germans and Czechoslovak government. Duke U.F.Kinský from Ceská Kamenice owned in region several thousands of hectares of woods and therefore his staff had perfect knowledge about dislocation of czech army units mobilized for defend of mother land. Kinský was chief of SdP (Sudetendeutsch Partei) headquarters, who prepared visit of lord Runciman. Next day gone all party to the manour-house in Vysoká Lípa, where they celebrated three birthdays - Mrs Aldringen, Mr Kinský and Westphalen. VISIT OF FERDINAND DE ESTE IN FERDINAND´S CANYON (source: chronicle of village Srbská Kamenice)

Archduke Frantisek Ferdinand de Este.

Archduke Frantisek Ferdinand de Este with his family - wife countess Žofie Chotková and children.

In the years 1877 - 78 Ignác Fiedler from number 148 established on the river Kamenice a boat passage between his house and Dolský mlýn. A journey on the fast flowing water through the narrow canyon with steep rocks around is exceptional experience for every friend of nature and therefore nobody can be surprised that this journey was beloved by trippers. AIR-HOSTESS VESNA CAME BACK (source: regional bulletin Czech road - Ceská silnice and other sources from internet)

In such aircraft flew passengers of fatal flight nr. 364.

In 26th January 1972 on the rock slope by Srbskokamenický lake falled down wrecks of aircraft Douglas DC 9-32 of Yugoslavian air company JAT piloted by captain Ludvik Razdruha, that flew on the regular line: Stockholm - Kodan (Copenhagen) - Záhreb (Zagreb)- Belehrad (Belgrade) (flight nr. 364). Almost accurately in 17 hours of that day a big explosion occured in the forward cargo hold of aircraft that flew at this time in elevation about 10 thousand of kilometers (10 160 m). (Some people speculated about terrorists assault of Croatian Ustashas and newly about possibility of hit by rockets of czechoslovak antiaircraft defend). On the board traveled 23 passengers and 5 members of crew. In accordance with eye witnesses most of passengers after explosion fell out from aircraft and their bodies were found in area of village Srbská Kamenice. It was miracle that one of these people stayed alive - it was 22 years old air-hostess Vesna Vulovic (she was at time of detonation in the tail section of the aircraft, the rear portion of the airliner stayed intact and took a life-saving bounce by hitting a wood and snow-covered mountain slope at a favorable angle). To the place of disaster came firemen from Srbská Kamenice, who immediately started rescue operations. Thanks to their self-sacrifice they found very early heavy wounded Vesna Vulovic (she broke both her legs and was paralysed from the waist down). She was very quickly transported to the hospital in Ceská Kamenice where the operating team of doctor Randa gave her first help. Past several days she was transported to the Prague. Her successfull struggle for life was watched by all world. She was hospitalized for 17 months. Her escape did not put her off flying, but she couldn´t continued to work as air-hostess and she worked in JAT for another 20 years as ground crew.

Vesna Vulovic after the aircrash in the hospital.

In 1997 past 25 years, Vesna Vulovic came back to the place of tragedy. On 27th January, two hours before her arrival to the Srbská Kamenice some of her rescuers started to meet them in building of municipal office - Mr Bruno Henke, Mr Zdenek Kubík, doctor Randa, Mr Mára and many representatives of press. After approach of Vesna and her guidance - ambassador of Jugoslavia in Czech Republic Djoko Stoicic she met with her rescuers and representatives of Srbská Kamenice and Ceská Kamenice and then she went to small monument by Srbskokamenický lake and she laid down bunch of flowers there. After memorial liturgy in church of st. Wenceslas all participants of meeting took part on friendly session in restaurant "In the old store".

THE FIRST PICTOGRAM IN CZECH SWITZERLAND

(26.6.2000) At weekend was realized investigation of the first pictogram in Czech republic in the year 2000. Near the small town Krásná Lípa turned up two intercircles of width 1,5 meter and total diameter 17,1 meter. It came to existence about 16th June 2000, but it was not ascertainable because of terrain. Agrosymbol was discovered by pilot of sporting aircraft, and therefore it was not almost injured. Stalks of grain were bowed by the roots to the ground but they started to rise up. Investigation was realized by members of Club of psychotronics and UFO - allstate organization that investigates unusual phenomenons. They took samples of stalks and grain. In accordance with last results of investigation tissue of plants was slightly damaged by unknown influence.

FROM METEOROLOGICAL RECORDS (records of Mr Jan Kafka from 1987-1997)

Weather is frequent theme of our conversation. Sometimes weather help us to begin conversation. We can learn from records of Mr Kafka for example that in the year 1994 were the most tropical days (days with temperature above 30 grades of Celsius) - 23. In the year 1987 only 1. In 1989, 16th August temperature was 45 grades of celsius in the sun. In 1994 from 20th July to 1st August was 36 grades of celsius. In 1997 was temperature above 30 grades 16th and 17th May already. Very frequent are cloud-bursts, sometimes with hail-stones for example 28th May and 8th July 1988, 1st June, 1st July, 20th and 21st August 1990. Seven cloud-bursts bring the year 1996. In 1996 was 57 ice days (days with temperature under 0 all day) and in 1987 only seven. First snow came in 1994 17th October already. Snow lay 101 days in 1996 and only 22 in 1992. In 1993 6th-7th January were so strong icy roads that the traffic totally colapsed. 28th 1994 was tempest and 17th March blizzard when in 5 minutes snowed 10 cm of snow. In 1990 17th November 2 minutes whirlwind.
